    Guide to solving Email Problems.

1.) Can you surf the internet. yes - skip to step3

2.) Can't surf the internet - your connections is down. This is at least one cause of your email outage. Try the following.

High Speed Always On Connection (DSL or Cable Modem)

a.) Check the lights on your Modem. Modems vary but generally all lights should be green and some may blink.
i.) If lights are not lit correctly. Unplug modem.
ii.) Double check all connections. Wait 10 minutes. Plug in modem and check the lights.
iii.) Still incorrect? Call your internet service provider. Your internet service is most likely out.

b.) If you have a router ensure the cable between the router and the modem is secure and verify the WAN light on the router is lit correctly.
i.) If WAN light is incorrect unplug router.
ii.) Double check wires, wait a minute and plug it back in.
iii.) Still Incorrect - if modem is correct and WAN light on router is incorrect find your manual for the router and reset it.

c.) Ensure all wired connections are connected correctly and reboot your system and go back to step one.(there are quick ways to reset the connection but this is the surest. (if already tried next)

d.)If at this point you are still unable to surf the internet there are many options. Recommended is to call your computer friend or a reputable company who can come and diagnose the problem.
Before you do this however I always recommend you double check all the wires thrice and go through the above guide it will catch most of the usual problems.

    Dial Up Connections

a.) Reboot your system and attempt to reconnect.

b.) Verify the dial up settings are correct with your dialup provider and attempt reconnecting.

c.) If at this point you are still unable to connect you might want to call a computer buddy or shop.

3.) If you are able to connect to the internet but you cannot send or recieve your email double check your settings as per the directions found below.
